Retractable screens are in demand and no where else is this more apparent than in the patio door market, where consumers pay in excess of $300 retail for the product. Preferred Engineering
Products Ltd. offers patio door manufacturers an integrated self-storing screen that is simple and elegant, easy to manufacture and almost impossible to damage—all for just few dollars more than a fixed screen, the company states. The Slide’N’Hide is a component system assembled in less than two minutes. Once assembled, a simple cartridge is easily installed or removed from the door. Said to be nearly impossible to damage while shipping and next to impossible to damage otherwise, the screen or cartridge, if damaged, can simply be returned to the point of purchase for a replacement. This feature becomes attractive when comparing the product to some after-market retractable screens requiring a technician to install or repair. The retractable screen is designed to provide an opportunity for manufacturers who wish to differentiate their products and increase profits and market share.
